Our Cambodia: Boots on the Ground Meet Up will be based from the Sofitel, Phnom Penh, a 5-star business hotel. You’ll enjoy free wi-fi, daily breakfast buffet, gym, pool and sauna facilities. We have blocked rooms for the Meet Up at the Sofitel, however you are free to stay at any hotel you prefer.

Dates and Times

The Meet Up Begins:  Wednesday, April 24, 2013 from 9:00-9:00 PM, including the Welcome Reception Boat Cruise.

Meet Up Sessions:  Thursday and Friday all day.

Meet Up Ends:  Friday, April 26 at 9 PM.  But there is also an option for an extended excursion to Siem Reap and Angkor Watt. You must contact us personally to set this up.

What you can expect…

This is a small, intensive networking event designed to encourage maximum participation and get you up-to-speed quickly on the opportunities available to foreign investors in Cambodia.

You won’t be subjected to “canned” podium presentations filled with a bunch of information you could find on Wikipedia. This is a workshop-style event where you will actually be visiting the CEO’s and entrepreneurs at their facilities and seeing their operations first-hand.

Mr. Rami B. Sharaf
Country manager of RMA Cambodia group of companies

Mr. Sharaf will speak to us at RMA Cambodia’s offices in Phnom Penh. RMA entered the market in 1992 as a provider of dedicated system solutions for commercial and non-commercial enterprises in the sectors of automotive, power generation, heavy equipment, agricultural & industrial equipment, car rental and food franchise management.

Through its different subsidiaries, RMA Cambodia exclusively represents and manages prestigious, world-class brands such as Ford Motor Company, JCB, Kohler, The Pizza Company, Swensen’s and Europcar. The company continues to build its portfolio of brand and service offerings.

Mr. Sharaf joined RMA Cambodia in 2009. He has extensive frontier markets experience, having operated in Israel, Palestinian territories, Jordan, Iraq and Pakistan.

Bretton G. Sciaroni
Senior Partner, Sciaroni & Associates

Mr. Sciaroni has served as Legal Adviser to the Royal Government of Cambodia since 1996, a position which has the rank of Minister.

Mr. Sciaroni is a founding governor and has served as Chairman of AmCham since 1996. He also serves as Chairman of the International Business Chamber. In addition, Mr. Sciaroni is Co-Chairman of the Working Group on Law, Tax and Good Governance, one of the mechanisms for private sector dialogue with the Royal Government. He has served in this capacity since 2000, along with his Co-Chairman, Deputy Prime Minister Keat Chhon, the Minister of Economy and Finance.

Mr. Sciaroni obtained his law degree from UCLA and is a member of the District of Columbia Bar. He has lived and worked in Cambodia since 1993, making him the longest serving foreign lawyer in the country.

Thomas Hugger
Fund Manager, Leopard Asia Frontier Fund, and Chief Operating Officer & Chief Financial Officer for Leopard Capital

Mr. Hugger has spent 27 years in private banking, where he specialized in managing portfolios of listed and unlisted equity investments. Prior to Leopard he was Managing Director and Head of Portfolio Management at LGT Bank, Hong Kong. Earlier he held investment positions at LGT Bank in Zurich and Bank Julius Baer in Zurich and Hong Kong.

Mr. Hugger is a CFIA – (Federal) Certified Financial Analyst and Investment Adviser – in Switzerland, and a Certified EFFAS (European Federation of Financial Analysts Societies) Financial Analyst. He is fluent in English and German and has a working knowledge of French.

We’ll travel to the 25th floor of Phnom Penh’s tallest office building to visit the Cambodia Securities Exchange Co. (CSX), Cambodia’s stock exchange! The CSX is a joint venture with Korea Exchange Inc. (KOSPI), the operator of the Seoul bourse.

Daniel Mitchell

Sung Bonna
President and CEO, Bonna Realty

Established in September of 1999, Bonna Realty Group has been a leader in the dramatic transition of Cambodia’s real estate market. They work with both domestic and international investors.

Mr. Sung Bonna, President and CEO of the company started off with one motorbike and a small office space with one desk. Today he oversees one of Cambodia’s most successful real estate firms.

The firm specializes in property valuation, research, property consultancy and property management. They also own commercial real estate in Phnom Penh.
